Ocean Lodging
The Nehalem Bay/Manzanita area is a great place to spend the weekend.
Here are our favorite lodging options:
- Camping at Nehalem Bay State Park: Abundant camping options right on the coast. Listen to the surf at night, and wake up less than 1/2 mile from race HQ/START/FINISH/Post Race Party. For complete information, including how to make a reservation, please seeThe Nehalem Bay State Park Official web site.
September 6th - October 1, the park's 297 camp sites are divided into two groups - 147 reservable camp site, and 150 non-reservable camp sites.
As of Tuesday, September 20th, there were just 4 reservable sites left. But this does not include the 150 non-reservable sites that will be available on a first-come/first-serve basis. The head park ranger doesn't anticipate a problem with camp site availability, but we recommend that you arrive as early as possible Friday just to be on the safe side. If you'll be arriving late and hoping to camp, ask another team to grab a site for you.
Vacation Rentals in Manzanita: The charming small town of Manzanita's only 3 miles north of Nehalem Bay Park. Sharing the cost of a vacation rental between team members is an excellent way to go, and you'll have the added benefit of lots of room to spread out your gear, full kitchen, and possibly even a hot tub for a much needed post race soak. We've had good experiences with The Manzanita Rental Company.
For additional vacation rental information, see the Manzanita Chamber of Commerce Page.
Motels/Hotels/B&B's: Manzanita has plenty of motels, hotels, and B&B's. For a complete listing, please go to the Manzanita Chamber of Commerce Page. Keep in mind that the shared cost of a vacation rental may be about the same as multiple motel rooms and the accommodations much nicer in a vacation rental.
