For those of you that have tried to make reservations for camping at Nehalem Bay State Park - they only reserve the first 150 of 300 camp sites. The remaining 150 camp sites are first come first served. We have been told by the park rangers that there shouldn't be any problems getting a space. Camping spaces are about 1/2 mile from Race HQ and the Start/Finish line. For additional details see the Nehalem Bay State Park website: http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_201.php

You will NOT be staging any gear on Friday during pre-race check in. You will need to drop your gear in the morning prior to the race start. You will be dropping kayaks at the Boat Launch locations, about 300 yards from Race HQ. You will then drop your Bikes at Race HQ and park. There should be plenty of parking for all racers. Plan to spend about 20 minutes dealing with gear drop during the morning before the race start.

You are allowed to drop one TA bin at the Boat TA, and one or two TA bins at the Bike drop (per team). However, the Bike and Boat TAs are sufficiently close that only dropping bins at the Bike drop is fine, if that makes you happy.

RACE CUTOFFS: This is the Wicked Adventure Sprint Series CHAMPIONSHIPS. This means we expect all of you to be moving hard and fast in this race. We will have several much more aggressive time cutoffs through out this race than in past races. If you should not make a time cutoff, you will be routed to a shortened course. We expect a percentage of the teams out there will not make the long course. All Short Course finishing teams will be ranked after the full course finishing teams. Expected finishing time/windows:
PRO Course 8 hours to 11 hours
SPORT Course 4 hours 30 minutes to 7 hours

Nehalem Bay State Park requires a day use fee for parking. Nehalem Bay State Park accepts Oregon State Parks permit, Washington and Oregon Recreation Pass, or the Golden Eagle pass, if you do not have these permits you will need to purchase the day use pass. This can be done at the entrance to the Camp Grounds or via a self-service kiosk at the entrance to the Boat Launch and Day Use Area (where Race HQ and the start/finish is). The day use fee is $3 (bring exact change/cash). Rangers WILL be patrolling the parking lots!

WEATHER: We all know that the weather in the Northwest during the fall is rather variable. Please insure you have plenty of race clothes to deal with weather ranging from sunny and 70 to pouring rain with 30 MPH winds and 40 degrees. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND water/wind proof shell TOP and BOTTOM. It can get very windy on the coast, and if it is raining, it can be miserably cold.

You WILL be getting wet in this race - so plan on bringing extra dry racing clothes should you need/want to change mid-race.

You will need to pack your hiking shoes if you wear clipless shoes on your bikes. Your hiking shoes WILL be getting wet. You may want to bring a second set of shoes, that's entirely up to you.

There is plenty of water on the race course, both potable and natural (needing treatment).

MAPS - you WILL be plotting UTM coordinates during the race. Plotting will occur in a TA, you will not have to carry your UTM and mapping gear with you.

POST RACE BBQ and AWARDS !! We would love it if ALL of you can stick around for the post race festivities. We will be crowning the Wicked Adventure Sprint Series champions, partaking in some great BBQ cooked up by our sponsor Bryan from Next Adventure, slurping down some beer (there's lots of it for this race!), and having a jolly good time. We hope that you will stick around to enjoy it with us. We've had a great year, and we're looking forward to knocking back a few beers with all of you! Post race festivities will start around 4:30 to 5:00 pm.

As always, friends and families are encouraged to attend our races and see what you are doing. We will do our best to help them get around the race course to maybe spy you in action. If you do have friends or family come, please have them introduce themselves to us!

We look forward to seeing all of you at the race!
