Wicked Urban Gear Drop

The Wicked Urban has a great setting, but its Urban location does make staging gear a little tricky. There is very limited turnaround space near the race. Please print this page and take it with you as you travel to the race location.

You can drop off your gear in the parking lot directly beneath the Hawthorne Bridge, approximately 50 yards from Race HQ/Main TA. (See maps on previous page.) Naito Parkway will be closed for the Rose Festival right at the race location, between Jefferson and Madison Streets.

Because we need to man the barriers, and station volunteers to keep gear safe while it's being dropped off, gear drop can happen only between 6:00 and 7:30 am (Pro Course), and 9:00 - 9:30 am (Sport Course) on the morning of the race. During these hours, you'll see Wicked Volunteers standing by these temporary Naito Pkwy street barriers between Jefferson and Madison. Drive slowly up to them (you don't want to scare them away) and tell them you're there for the race. They'll move the barriers for you. Drive ahead into the parking lot directly beneath the Hawthorne Bridge. You'll see more Wicked Volunteers waiting for you. Leave your vehicle engine running, drop you gear with the volunteers, or else with your team mates, and go back the way that you came, being careful of other arriving racer vehicles, and continuing on to one of the nearby parking lots.

See the previous page for information on all-day parking close by. NOTE: Parking garages often have low clearance! If you have kayak racks on your vehicle, you may need to rotate them down if they stick up in the air!

Gear pick-up after the race will be exactly the same, exact time(s) will be posted shortly.

You are of course welcome to drop off or pick up you gear at any time, provided you make your own arrangements.
