Urban Update1

Wicked Racers!

We hope you've been out there preparing for this race! Although it is an urban setting, there is little about this race that will be easy. We've been working hard to put together a new and unique race course for this year. We have a couple of pretty wicked twists in store for our racers this year!

For those of you who are new to the Wicked races, we'd like to welcome you to the family. We enjoy producing these races for you, and we hope that each of you will be able to hang out at the Post Race party and festivities. At the conclusion of your race, we will have BBQ cooked up by our sponsor Bryan Knudsen from Next Adventure, raffle prize give aways, and fun. We hope you all find time in your schedule to hang with us.

Also - we strongly encourage friends and family to join you. Waterfront park has a huge selection of activities throughout the day with the Rose Festival and the Pepsi Waterfront Park, and the City of Portland is only steps away.

If all of your team members have not completed a Racer Registration form, please insure they are completed immediately. We need this information for our insurance, safety, and planning. Thank you!

Complete details of the race schedule are available.

Be sure to check out the directions and venue information.

For those itching to know some parameters around length of the course, check out the updated disciplines page.

Please note that the Mandatory Gear list has been updated, and the final gear list has been posted.

PLEASE NOTE - For this race, you will be allowed to use Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes, or Cyclo Cross Bikes. If you do not have access to a Road Bike or Cross bike, you would be well served to put city slicks on your mountain bike and firming up your suspension. There will be no off-road bicycling.

For PRO COURSE Teams ONLY: You will also be required to carry your Scate/Scooter/Kickbikes with you during the kayaking stage. Please insure you are able to carry your preferred mode of transport with you while kayaking. You may choose to run during this section, however you will likely lose a lot of ground on other teams using Scates/Scooters/Kickbikes.

For PRO COURSE Teams ONLY: You will also be required to place ALL team and individual kayaking gear into one or more mesh bags, duffle bags, backpacks, or similar container once you have completed the kayak stage of the race. You will not have to carry this bag with you on any other stage of the race except during the kayaking stage. Paddles do not have to fit into the bags. Containers MUST be labelled with team name.

ALL kayaking gear must be labeled with either your name, your team name, or team number. Any gear not labeled will incur a time penalty for each item not labeled.

This year, we will have some very nice technical t-shirts for our racers and volunteers. There is an assortment of colors, and you will have your choice of color during check-in. Earlier check-in means more color/size selection.

We're looking forward to seeing all of you at the race. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
