About Mike BittonMike Bitton has quickly become a seasoned pro in Adventure Sports photojournalism. He's covered the Subaru Primal Quest 2004 race in Northwest Washington, one of the premier events in the Adventure Sports world. He's also covered the Extreme Adventure Hidalgo 2005 race in Mexico, where his fluency in spanish came in quite handy. Both races featured top teams and media from around the world. He's become a fixture at adventure races in the Pacific Northwest, providing coverage for the the TRIOBA adventure race series in Washington, and now moving into the position of Director of Media for Wicked Adventure Racing. Bitton’s photos have appeared in Adventure Sports Magazine and various newspapers. Mike Bitton grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he spent most of his time outdoors. He has fly-fished most of the South and North forks of the Snake River, and has explored just about every nook and cranny of the recreation area known as Island Park, Idaho. He was an active Boy Scout, and achieved the rank of Eagle. A graduate of Idaho Falls High School (1987), Bitton attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, where he studied journalism. He served as a volunteer missionary during 1989 and 1990 in Uruguay for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a result, he is fluent in English and Spanish. Bitton continued his journalism studies at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, graduating with a bachelor’s of science in photojournalism. Bitton worked as a reporter and photographer for the Union Democrat newspaper in Sonora, Calif., from 1995 to 1997. He worked as a reporter at the Antelope Valley Press newspaper from 1997 to 2001. He freelanced regularly for the technology section of the Hollywood Reporter during 2000 and 2001. Bitton became a teacher in 2001 in Lancaster, Calif., where he taught elementary school for three years in the Westside Union School District. In June of 2005, he quit his teaching job and moved from Lancaster to Vancouver, Wash., to pursue his passion for adventure sports photography.
